Gerald Lee Shaner
Gerald “Jerry” Lee Shaner, 94, of Claysville, passed away peacefully, June 25, 2021. He was born November 21, 1926, in Wheeling W.Va., son of the late Scott and Ethel Shaner. In 1945, he married Edith Mae Riggins, who is deceased.
Gerald worked for Wheeling Stamping as a millwright. He enjoyed playing musical instruments for anyone that wanted to listen on the benches of Claysville.
He is survived by his children, Gerald Lee Shaner Jr., Sandra Hemelrick and Scott Shaner (Patricia); three brothers, Ted Shaner, Stanley Shaner and Elmer Shaner; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Jean Shaner; son-in-law, Edward Hemelrick; grandson, Robert Hemelrick; three sisters; one brother; two sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
Visitation for Gerald will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, in Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30. Interment to follow in West Alexander Cemetery.
