Henry Adams Knapp, 89, of Houston, formerly of Tuscon, Ariz., died Sunday, March 7, 2021, with his family at his side.

He was born March 1, 1932, in Newburyport, Mass., a son of Harold A. and Emma C. Paulsen Knapp.

Mr. Knapp was a 1950 graduate of Bridgton Academy in N. Bridgton, Maine, and graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in forestry in 1954.

Following his college graduation, he entered the service, where he served with the U.S. Army as a high-speed radio operator from 1954 to 1956.

After his service, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service in the New Mexico and Arizona regions. In 1970, he received his degree in accounting from the University of Arizona and built his own CPA practice, Knapp and Associates, where he continued to work until his retiring and selling the firm in 2010.

He was a founding member of the Arizona Society of Practicing Accountants, a 50-year member and past master of Marion McDaniel Lodge #56 Free & Accepted Masons and a member of the Christ the King Episcopal Church in Tucson.

After moving to live with family in Houston, he became a member of the Trinity Church in Washington.

Henry was a prolific reader and enjoyed long walks. Many saw him as a humble and gentle soul, kind, quiet and deeply reflective with a good sense of humor.

Surviving are a daughter, Emma Mobley and her husband, Anton, with whom he made his home in Houston; five grandchildren, Anton “AJ” Mobley (Ashley) of Duluth, Ga., Mary Bosiljevac (Jake) of Bridgeville, Rebecca Petrany (Stephen) of Arlington, Va., Laura Newman (Andrew) of Canonsburg and Victoria Mobley of Houston; three nephews, Gunnar Knapp, and Tom and Peter Bull; three nieces, Christine Soderling, Susan Riley and Kristina Schwarz; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Knapp.

Deceased are a brother, Harold Knapp; a sister, Barbara Bull and her husband, Wilbur; and a niece, Emilie Crown.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, in the Trinity Church, 550 S. Main Street, Washington, PA 15301, followed by interment with military rites in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
