David C. Dille

David C. Dille, 68, of Washington, formerly of Prosperity, died Friday, March 12, 2021, in Washington Healthsystem. He was born January 23, 1953, in Washington, a son of the late Charles W. and Estella C. Irey Dille.

He was a 1972 graduate of McGuffey High School. Mr. Dille worked at PennDot for more than 40 years before retiring in 2012 as a heavy equipment operator and foreman.

He was a member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church, the Anawana Club, a former retired state constable, and Morris Township Volunteer Fire Department member.

He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping, bird watching and deer watching, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Charlie.

On July 21, 1973, he married Colleen Weaver in Laboratory Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Lawrence S. Kurtz officiating.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 48 years, Colleen Dille, are two daughters, Tara (Walt) Durr of Beaver and Tammy Lynn Varner of Washington; a brother, Scott C. Dille (Barbara) of Prosperity; five grandchildren, Brian P. Gottschalk (Audra), David Charles Gottschalk (Bella), Kaylynn Renee “Sweet Pea” Varner, Natosha Durr, Courtney Geruschat (Michael); and three great-granddaughters, Alianna “Booboo” Durr, Emma Geruschat, Anastasia “Chipmunk” Gottschalk; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, in Laboratory Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Jason Freyer and Pastor Donna Christopher officiating.
