Karen A. Zrimm

Karen A. Zrimm, 80, of Avella, passed away in her home Monday, March 15, 2021, after a brief battle with brain cancer.

She was born October 30, 1940, in Avella, a daughter of the late Casmeria “Kate” Malinky Porfeli.

Karen was a 1958 graduate of Avella High School and was a graduate of Penn Commercial.

On September 2, 1961, in Avella, she married Frank Zrimm, who survives.

She was a hardworking mother of three, who dedicated her life to her family and the farm. She worked alongside her husband raising market hogs and then growing vegetables and selling them at the farmers market, mostly in Washington and Mt. Lebanon. She enjoyed cooking for her loved ones and being outdoors mowing grass and gardening.

She had lived on the family farm in Avella since 1982.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 59 years, are three children, Bradley (Terri) Zrimm, Bryan (Cheryl) Zrimm and Amy Zrimm, all of Avella; three grandchildren, Fred (Tracy) Moore Jr., Caitlin Zrimm and Savanna Mayer; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ashlyn and McKinley.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her stepfather, Joseph Porfeli; and a daughter, who died in infancy.

All funeral services are private. Burial will be in the private cemetery on the family farm.
