Erma Slopek, 96, of Burgettstown, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021, in the home of her daughter in Somerset.
She was born July 8, 1924, a daughter of the late Frank Bailey and Dorothy George Worlyn.
She graduated from Chartiers Township High School in 1943.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed family vacations, and especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Burgettstown Presbyterian Church.
On March 24, 1951, she married Steve Slopek, who died March 8, 2005.
Surviving is one daughter, Janet Dotson (Dave) of Somerset; two sons, Steve Slopek (Linda) of Midland, and Robert Slopek (Barbara) of Langeloth; five grandchildren, Susan Ferrara (Tom), Steven Slopek (Giang), Jessica Koonse (Kevin), Rob Slopek (Michelle), Gary D. Pcsolinski II (Amanda); six great-grandchildren, Anthony Ferrara, Evan and Lila Koonse, Jacob and Josephine Slopek, and Savannah Pcsolinski.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are three sisters, Aelethea O’Shanka, Mildred Milonovich and Louise Newton; and one brother, Richard Kiss.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6, with the Rev. Cinda Isler, pastor of the Burgettstown Presbyterian Church, officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery, Burgettstown.
