James C. McLaughlin
James C. McLaughlin, 67, of Peters Township, died Tuesday, May 11, 2021.
He was the beloved son of the late Gary and Phyllis McLaughlin; big brother to Michael, Patrick, Sean, Kathleen and Brendan McLaughlin; beloved uncle to Michael, Ryan, Kyle, Piper, Lisa, Garrett and Robert; and brother-in-law to Jan, Anastasia, Maureen Eve and Barry.
James was born in Biloxi, Miss., in 1953, and grew up in Carnegie, Bridgeville and Peters Township, where he spent the rest of his life. A 1971 graduate of Peters Township High School, with a degree in journalism from Penn State, Jim had a lifelong love of the written word, sometimes sprinkling Latin in his conversations with friends and family.
Jim often cared for his younger siblings, playing baseball with them, inventing games to amuse them and telling them bedtime stories he made up on the spot. James loved his Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins, keeping a meticulous scorecard of each game he attended.
James loved his large extended family and his many cousins, especially Susie, Missy, Bernadette and Joseph (JC) Wagenhoffer, Donna and Robin Young, Todd Hirt and Ginger Sadiq; as well as his aunt Flavia; and his dear friends, Duncan, Brian, Allison, Paul, JB and Diane.
Plans for a memorial gathering in the summer are pending.
