Leonard Stephen Basey

Leonard Stephen Basey, 79, of Daisytown, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, in his home.

He was born March 1, 1942, in Vestaburg, a son of the late Steve and Ann Lipsky Basey.

Leonard honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle N-14) and Marksman (MG M60).

Mr. Basey was employed by Fort Pitt Bridge in Canonsburg and also worked as a valet at Nemacolin Country Club.

He loved golfing and also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.

Surviving are a sister, Rose Pournaras (Chris) of Canonsburg; a brother, Tim Basey (Janet) of Donora; a niece, Stefanie King (Matt); a nephew, Thomas Pournaras (Ashley); and a sister-in-law, Judy Basey.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Nick Basey; and nephew Timothy Pournaras.

All funeral services are private and under the direction of the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bentleyville Public Library, 931 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314.
