Raymond G. Phillips II

Raymond G. Phillips II, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the age of 74. He was truly one of the most caring and kindest gentleman ever.

Ray was born in Waynesburg and graduated from West Greene High School. He served his country as a Navy Corpsman during the VietNam War.

Following his service he moved to Jacksonville and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Services in 1981 and Masters of Science in Allied Health Services in 1986, graduating Magna Cum Laude in both from the University of North Florida. He also held the following positions during his career in healthcare: president of Greater Jacksonville Area Hospital Disaster Council, member of Phi Kappa Phi, certification for American Nurses Association, Certified Nursing Administration, while working at Shands, Baptist and Memorial hospitals in Jacksonville.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Raymond G. Phillips, in 1963.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judith Phillips; mother Rosalie Sue Arnold; sister Linda Dees-Deschane (Artie); niece Jennifer Dees; and great-niece and nephews.

Services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Jacksonville and columbarium will be at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
