Frank Delano Halechko
Frank Delano Halechko, 87, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021, in his home. He was born April 19, 1934, in Ella Hollow, the youngest of five children, to the late Frank and Esther J. Hines Halechko.
Frank began his career at US Steel Clairton Works, where he was employed for 32 years.
He served in the US Army reserves and was a reliable plumber to many in the community. After retirement, he worked for Action Housing of Washington County and then at Riverview Golf Course in Bunola. Frank had a passion for golf and even when he wasn’t working at Riverview, he was there playing a game of golf and was proud to be a member of their Hole-in-One Club.
Frank was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Monongahela, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was also a member of the Lions Club and the Ginger Hill Grange. Frank enjoyed many pastimes including hunting, trap shooting and cards.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Neidermeyer Halechko, with whom he celebrated 21 years of marriage December 10, 2020; son Drew Halechko; and son-in-law Paul Jon Lazorcak of Whitehall; two sisters, Alma Fetch of Monongahela, Gerry Matesich of Clearwater, Fla.; sister-in-law Dorothy Cowan of Monongahela; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Lou Ashcraft Halechko, who died in 1978; son David Scott Halechko, who died in infancy; and two sisters, Martha Beck and Thelma Stulock.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 23, in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, with the Rev. Janet Scott-Mace officiating.
