Irene Kertesz Bushko, 84, of Washington, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 19, 2021, with loving family at her side.

She was born January 4, 1937, in Avella, a daughter of the late Louis and Julia Demeter Kertesz, and was the youngest of six children.

She was the beloved wife of the late Paul E. Bushko, who died in 2000; loving mother of Kerry (Andrew) Sites, Paul (the late Adrianna) Bushko and Stacy Wittbecker; cherished grandmother of Rich, Joe and Kristy Andros, Katrina (Carlos Mesquita), Rebecca and Priscilla Bushko, Sammy and Jesse Wittbecker; dear great-grandmother of Jason Wittbecker; and adored sister of Julie Kowcheck.

Irene graduated from Avella High School in 1955. She met the love of her life, Paul Bushko, and was married September 10, 1960.

Irene was a homemaker for many years and enjoyed raising her three children. She also worked at Mayview State Hospital for 23 years before retiring.

Irene was caring, generous, and always thinking of others. She enjoyed the time spent with her children and grandchildren during her retirement.

To honor her wishes, a viewing will not be held.
