Richard S. Mowl Jr.
Richard S. Mowl Jr., 73, of Washington, died Thursday, May 20, 2021, in Jefferson Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born December 28, 1947, in Washington, a son of the late Richard S. and Lena Smith Mowl.
He was a 1965 graduate of Trinity High School. He then went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force.
Richard was a self-employed farmer. He served on the Board of Washington County Conservation District for more than 30 years, where he held numerous positions. Richard served on many agriculture-related boards and committees throughout his life.
In his younger years, he managed the Trinity youth wrestling team and was president of the Wrestling Booster Club.
He belonged to North Ten Mile Baptist Church.
On December 31, 2007, he married Lois Elaine Clemens Mowl.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, Richard S. Mowl III (Carla), Kristi Lynn Danley-Pysh (Craige), Logan Richard Mowl, and stepdaughter Marla Elaine Strike (Ed); two brothers, Charles Edward Mowl (Darlene), William David Mowl (Patricia); a sister, Debra Lee Miles (John Grubbs); eight grandchildren, James Arthur Anderson, Chelsie Lynn Mowl, Alexis Marie Mowl, Ella Rose Mowl, Micaela Marie Danley Schoedel (Eric), Zackary Alan Pysh, Colton Edward Strike, Ian Paul Strike; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a grandson, Alec Barry Strike.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 24, in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 until the 11 a.m. time of funeral service Tuesday, May 25, in North Ten Mile Baptist Church. Interment will follow in North Ten Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.
