Donald C. Bell
Donald C. Bell, 74, of Burgettstown, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, May 22, 2021, in Weirton Medical Center Emergency Room.
He was born January 22, 1947, in Washington, a son of the late William and Florence Jester Bell.
Don was a 1965 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in education from North Kentucky University and then went on to complete his master’s degree in education at the University of Kentucky.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during Vietnam, with the rank of sergeant.
Don lived and worked as a teacher in Covington, Ky., for 10 years before moving to California and then coming back to southwestern Pennsylvania in 1990.
He worked in sales for Comcast from 2000 until he retired in 2013.
Don was a member of Bridgeville American Legion and attended Eldersville United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed going out to dinner, the casino and travelling. He loved entertaining friends and family during game night, especially his nephews.
On February 21, 2004, in Eldersville United Methodist Church, he married Stephanie Suzanne Strope, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 17 years, are his stepson, Tyler Bonner; his two nephews, Joshua and Joseph Strope; and his father- and mother-in-law, Jerald and Jackie Adams Strope; and a brother-in-law, Peter Strope.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Ronald Bell; and his brother, William Jr. “Billy” Bell, who died in childhood.
Friends and family will be received from 2 until 5 p.m., the time of the military walk-thru and service, Wednesday, May 26, in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, with Bert C. Siders American Legion Post 643 of Avella officiating.
Interment is private.
