Barbara Balach
Barbara Ann Rose Balach, of Canonsburg, died Friday, May 21, 2021, in Greenery Rehab Facility, Canonsburg, after a lengthy illness. She was born February 10, 1941, in Pittsburgh, the youngest of three children of Michael and Catherine Burke.
She lost her father, a firefightaer, when she was an infant and was raised in Holy Family Institute, an orphanage in Pittsburgh.
After high school, she met then married the love of her life, Alfred Balach, of Beadling. Barbara and Alfred had three children, eight grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her loving sister, Sally James of Texas; many brothers- and sisters-in-law in addition to nieces and nephews, who were a big part of her life; as well as her lifelong friend, Paula Cwikly of California.
Barbara spent her lifetime in the nursing field, mainly caring for the elderly. At one time she cared for her mother and mother-in-law at the same time until their passing.
There will be no viewing or services, and Barbara’s ashes will be spread on her parent’s gravesite in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers or monetary donations, the family asks that we all do a good deed for an elderly person in memory of Barbara.
