John W. Meldrum
John W. “Jack” “Jake” Meldrum, of McMurray, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 23, 2021.
He was born March 5, 1927, a son of the late James Eugene and Anne Thompson Meldrum.
Jake was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a muleskinner.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and 65-year member of Crafton Guyasuta Lodge #513 Free & Accepted Masons and the American Legion Post #944.
Jake was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and bowling with both Canonsburg and Washington seniors.
Jake belonged to the Thomas Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years. He served as both a deacon and elder.
Jake is survived by his wife of 17 years, Edna E. Kiger Meldrum; a son, James M. (Joan) Meldrum; a daughter, Jo Ann (Eddie) Kotwica; five grandchildren, Matthew Meldrum, Julie (Eric) Friese, David Meldrum, Ryan (Lesley) Smutney and her son Cameron Smith, Leslie (Kris) Wagstaff; two great-grandchildren, Piper and Sage Friese; a stepson, Ronald (Leslie) Kiger; and a stepgranddaughter, Elizabeth Kiger.
Jake was previously married to Edna M. Koch Meldrum for 50 years, who passed away in 2000. He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Gary Kiger.
Friends and family are welcome in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211) from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. time of service Wednesday, May 26. Interment in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery.
