Cecil David Phillips, 66, of Mount Morris, passed away Monday, November 1, 2021, following a brief illness. Born in Waynesburg on April 10, 1955, he was a son of the late Cecil and Loretta Bane Phillips.
A 1973 graduate of Mapletown High School, Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Army toward the end of the Vietnam Conflict. He was an auto body repairman, having worked at a number of shops in the Morgantown, W.Va., and Greene County areas, and retiring from Kovalcheck’s Repair in Khedive. He was a member of the Bobtown Polish Club, the Greensboro Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was currently serving on the Garards Fort Cemetery Board of Directors. In his spare time, he loved being out in the woods hunting.
His wife, Darlene Shaffer Phillips, died November 18, 2009. Also deceased are his brothers, Ken Phillips, and his twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Phillips.
Dave is survived by his son, of whom he was so proud, Garrett Phillips; a brother, Rick Phillips of Fairchance; a sister, Edna Fetsko of New Jersey; and by a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, November 4, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. hour of service Friday, November 5, with the Rev. Kenneth Haines officiating, in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion. Interment, with military honors, will be in Garards Fort Cemetery, Garards Fort.
It is requested that memorials, in lieu of flowers, be offered to the Darlene Phillips Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Foundation of Greene County, P.O. Box 768, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
