James G. Martin
James G. Martin, 80, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away peacefully, in his home, Monday, November 1, 2021. Jim was born April 1, 1941, in Lone Pine, to George and Gladys Kelley Martin.
He was a 1959 graduate of Trinity High School in Washington. Upon graduation, he served in the Seventh Army with the Corps of Engineers in Germany. After discharge, he worked at Republic and LTV Steel in Cleveland, Ohio, for 38 years as a supervisor in the bar mill. He worked an additional 15 years at Walmart in Mentor.
When he was younger, he enjoyed bowling, playing softball and coaching Little League. During retirement, he enjoyed watching sports, especially his son playing hockey, and spending time working in his yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gladys Martin; and sisters, Florence (Bill) Frye and Betty Chester.
He will be missed by his wife of 55 years, JoAnn Ray Martin; and sons, Jeff (Karen) of Fairfax, Va., and Tim (Tammy) of Kent, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Kyra, Tatiana, Casey, Carter, Kateri, Lauren and Carter.
A committal service and interment will be held in Lone Pine at a later date.
