June Leon Stankovich, 97, of Roscoe (Mt. Tabor), died Friday, November 12, 2021.
She was born Sunday, June 29, 1924, in California, a daughter of the late John Adam Huffman and Florence Walker Huffman.
June proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Stankovich; daughter, Cathy Gales; granddaughter, Kelly Gales; and brothers, John “Jack,” Dale and Raymond “Ram” Huffman.
Left to cherish her memory are brothers, Donald “Skip” Huffman of California, and Alfred “Ato” Huffman of Mt. Tabor; and her best friend since the age of 5, Cleda Work. Also surviving are her grandson, Ted Nathan Gales; great-grandson, Nathan; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. hour of service Monday, November 15, in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, with the Rev. Kenneth Custer officiating.
Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Howe Cemetery.
