Cecelia Tewell, 82, of Carmichaels, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation, Waynesburg.

She was born November 23, 1938, in Searights, Fayette County, a daughter of the late Michael and Helen Majesky Mervay. Mrs. Tewell was a 1956 graduate of Uniontown High School, and was a member of the St. Matthias Parish in Carmichaels. She worked as a pharmacy technician.

On May 7, 1966, she married Homer R. “Sonny” Tewell, who survives. Also surviving are a sister, Dolores Hrin (Steven) of Uniontown; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Mervay of Uniontown; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, Mark Tewell; three brothers, William Mervay, Lawrence Mervay and Michael Mervay; and a sister, Rosella Wyckoff.

The family extends a special thanks to Rolling Meadows, Washington Health System-Greene and Amedisys Hospice for the loving care that was provided for Cecelia.

Family and friends are welcome from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels.

A blessing service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, in the funeral home, with the Rev. J. Francis Frazier officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, in Fairchance Cemetery.
