C. Raymond Quail Jr.

C. Raymond Quail Jr., 81, of Washington, died Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in Country Meadows Retirement Community of South Hills.

He was born September 13, 1940, in Washington, the son of the late Charles Raymond Quail, Sr., and Willa Zedicker Quail.

Ray was a 1958 graduate of Trinity High School.

He worked at Jessop Steel as a Malt Shop Superintendent. He later worked for Pickands and Mather Group, where he held a number of titles.

In his free time, Mr. Quail enjoyed golfing, camping, riding his motorcycle, and music. He played trumpet in a big band through the late 50’s and 60’s.

On April 9, 1960, in the Second Presbyterian Church, now known as The Church of the Covenant, he married the love of his life, Ruthann Crompton, who died April 20, 2016. The two were known as excellent dancers and enjoyed attending road rallies in their Red Stingray Corvette.

He was a member of Sunset Lodge No. 237, F&AM, Washington.

Surviving are a son, Michael R. (Kimberly) Quail, of Auburn, Calif.; a daughter, Dr. Tracy Lynn (Dr. Thomas C.) Boldry, of Shawnee, Kan.; five grandchildren, Jacob Boldry, Hannah McGreevy, Claire Caton, Lindsey Pitts and Owen Quail; three great-grandchildren, Mikaila Pitts, Preston Pitts and Evelyn Caton; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
