Norma Jean Mego
Norma Jean Mego, 88, of Houston, died Sunday, September 26, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. She was born on March 22, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Amos.
Jean was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary at the Legion in Washington, Post 175, Eagles of Waynesburg, and VFW of Waynesburg, Post 4793.
She had a passion for Genealogy and was a member of The Genealogical Society of Southwestern PA. People from all over would seek her out for her expertise.
She was a proud Girl Scout Troop Leader and a ready volunteer for many school programs.
She is survived by her beloved husband Robert E. Mego; four children, Michael Anthony La Cava, John Phillip Lacava, Theresa J. (Wayne Hamel) Lacava, Joan Lacava and stepdaughter Robin Mego Samek (Tom); three grandchildren, Courtney L. La Cava, Louis A. Lacava Hamel, and Catherine M. Lacava Hamel; and one sister, Linda Tharp (Jerry). As one of 9 children she has many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the Behm Funeral Home, 182 W. High Street, Waynesburg.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Saint Ann Church, 232 E. High Street, Waynesburg.
Interment will follow at Saint Ann Cemetery.
