Shirley J. Walker
Shirley J. Walker, 89, of Hickory, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Southmont Senior Care.
She was born March 7, 1932, in Venice, a daughter of the late Roy and Teresa Adams Schurr.
She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed many hours of preparing for and working at the infamous Hickory Apple Festival. Shirley was an avid bowler, she enjoyed traveling with friends to bowl in the USBC Women’s Championship tournaments for a consecutive 30 years. She was inducted into the Washington County Bowling Hall of Fame in 2017.
She worked multiple years for Hickory Transport as a school bus driver.
Surviving are her children, Connie Stanish, Karen Ferragonio, Susan (Troy) Ward, and Tim Walker; her grandchildren Jeffrey, Kiley, Christopher, Karissa, Shelby, TJ, Shawn, Cody, Harley, and Hunter, and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay M. Walker, and sister, Naomi Bistarkey.
Arrangements are entrusted to Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown Pa, 15301.
Private interment will be at Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
