Hazel Lindley Hillberry, 92, of Claysville, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 9:10 a.m., in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Tammy Lindley, in East Finley Township.

She was born July 11, 1929, in Morris Township, Washington County, a daughter of the late Carl Hird and Alva Irene Sprowls Dorsey.

Mrs. Hillberry had lived in East Finley Township most of her life prior to moving to Donegal Township in l997 and moving to Claysville in 2007.

She was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church in East Finley Township, where she formerly served as a Sunday school teacher, trustee, church treasurer, and was a member of the United Methodist Women and Ladies Aid Society of the church.

Mrs. Hillberry was also a member of and former secretary of the Fairmount Cemetery Board and a charter member of the East Finley Township Park committee and also served on the election boards of Donegal and East Finley Township, and was a member of the Claysville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She and her late husband, Dallas Lindley, owned and operated the East Finley General Store in East Finley Township from 1948 until 1952. She was last employed as a sales clerk for the former D.M. Campsey Seed & Feed Store in Claysville for 24 years prior to retiring in 2005.

On August 26, 1947, she married Dallas Newton Lindley, who died February 3, 1981, and on May 18, 1991 she married Logan Lafayette Hillberry, who died April 7, 2000.

Surviving are four sons, Havel Lindley of Okmulgee, Okla., Reed (Janet) Lindley of Pottstown, Phillip (Allison) Lindley of Hermiston, Ore., and Gerald (Tammy) Lindley of East Finley Township; a daughter-in-law, Becky Lindley of East Finley Township; three stepchildren, Cheryl Wheat of Virginia, Dave (Christine) Hillberry of Miami, Fla., and Charles (Kathleen) Hillberry of McDonald; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Reynolds of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husbands, are two sons, Ray Eugene Lindley, who died in infancy, and Bruce Lindley, who died July 12, 2020; a sister, Lucille Bedilion; eight brothers, Earl Dorsey who died in infancy, Gaylord, Leo, Ralph, Floyd, Vance, Paul and Blaine Dorsey.

Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 3, in Fairmount United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 4, with the Rev. Scott Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, East Finley Township.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Fairmount United Methodist Church, 120 Fairmount Church Road, West Finley, PA 15323.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, in Rogersville.
