Edward Lawrence Tucker
Edward Lawrence Tucker, 72, of Washington, and Isla Mujeres, Mexico, died peacefully in his home, Friday, September 10, 2021, following a brief illness, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born September 25, 1948, in Washington, a son of the late Val and Shirley Fonger Tucker.
A 1966 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Mr. Tucker earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Human Resources from St. Francis University, and his Master’s degree in Business and Human Resources from Wheeling Jesuit University.
Mr. Tucker was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant, from April 1968, until his honorable discharge in December of 1971. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.
Edward worked as a professor of human resources at Waynesburg University.
He had also worked for RCA, ITS/ADC, Tucker’s Grill, DBT, Dish Network, Tele Tech, Techno CAP, Washington & Jefferson College, and the Pennsylvania American Water Company.
An avid British car enthusiast, Edward enjoyed scuba diving, golfing, beach life and woodworking, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Tucker; two sons, David (Teresa) Tucker of Washington, and Michael (Janelle) Moritz of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Jennifer Tucker of Washington; a brother, Rick (Caren) Tucker of Houston; three grandchildren, Adeline and Henry Moritz, and Savanah Avery; a great-grandchild, Giavana Avery; and his beloved dog, Benny.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday, September 26, in the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, 168 Park Avenue, Washington.
At the request of the deceased, interment at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be private, and held at the convenience of the family.
