Lois Ruth Koci
Lois Ruth Koci, 88, of Washington, died Monday, September 27, 2021, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born September 13, 1933, in Marianna, a daughter of the late Omer D. and Amanda E. Piper White.
Lois was 1951 Graduate of West Bethlehem High School, and went on to graduate from the Washington Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. She worked for Washington Hospital before moving to Washington Steel, which eventually became Allegheny Ludlum, where she worked for many years until her retirement in 1999.
Mrs. Koci was a very active member at Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon, librarian, and Sunday school teacher.
In her free time, she enjoyed canning and gardening.
On January 20, 1956, in Marianna, she married the love of her life, Edward Koci, who died December 8, 2019.
Surviving are a son, John (Brenda) Koci, of Canonsburg; two daughters, Kathleen (Robert) Pallatto, of Canonsburg, and Jacqueline (Craig) Bieda, of McDonald; a sister Anna Mae Evans, of Oak Hill, Ohio; five grandchildren, Samantha, John, Travis, Dennis, and Erin; four great-grandchildren, Colton, Iva, Lanie, and Chase; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two great-grandchildren, Hope and Sutton Russi; two brothers, John and Paul White; and six sisters, Elsie Iams, Eva White, Hazel McCullough, Nellie Earnest, Pearl Donahoo, and Iva Earnest.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, in the Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Douglas M. Jones, supervisor, Dr. Lawrence K. Donovan, director.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021, in Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, 2230 Washington Road, Canonsburg, with Reverend Peggy Shannon officiating.
Interment will follow in Horn Cemetery, Marianna.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the church.
