Judith Taylor Wiley Smith
Judy Taylor, Judy Wiley, Judy Smith, our Mom, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, after succumbing to the pain and indignities of Alzheimer’s disease.
Judy Taylor was born in Canonsburg, on October 10, 1934, the sixth child of Frank and Margaret Taylor. Her family was well-known in Canonsburg, as they owned Taylor Pharmacy. The five beautiful girls, Etta, MaryLou, Doris, Nancy, and Judy, enjoyed working the soda fountain at the pharmacy while brother, Bill, watched over them and trained to be a pharmacist.
Judy graduated from Canonsburg High School. She was very social with many friends and attended all of the dances and proms. She then attended Waynesburg College where she was on the homecoming court.
Judy married Thomas Wiley in 1953. They had three daughters, Deborah (Mason Abbas), Terri (Kenneth Rhodes), and Melissa (Michael Nicolella).
Judy was the most caring, fun, witty, creative, and loving person to her family and friends. She was always making delicious food for friends and neighbors in times of need, and feeding her daughters’ friends after many sleepovers. She and her close friends had a monthly bridge club and she loved to throw theme parties.
Judy married Alfred Smith in 1981, and she gained three stepchildren, Andrine (Hank), Gordon, and Ellis. Judy and Al spent many years wintering in Florida, and had a lot of fun traveling with friends and helping to care for her nine grandchildren, Alicia (Tobias), Chelsea (Fabian), Addison (Cecilia), and Wiley (Bethanie) Abbas; Jeff (Kelli), Jodi (Mack), and Carly (Trevor) Rhodes; Maggie and Tommy Nicolella. The grandchildren all hold such precious memories of the times they spent with their Grammy. Judy was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Lydia, Zeno, Thea and Vaela.
Judy Taylor Wiley Smith never had a bad word to say about anyone. She provided unconditional love to her children and grandchildren.
Her wit and funny remarks will forever be carried in our stories of Mom and Grammy. She would jokingly make remarks about her past by saying, “In my other life.” Well, Mom, your forever life has welcomed an angel, and the original life of Judy Taylor has come full circle in reuniting you with the entire Taylor Family. We love you so much and look forward to the time when we can be together again.
Judy always said, “There will be no show and tell for me” when leaving this life.
Burial will be held privately by the family on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
Arrangements have been entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington.
