Betty A. McDowell

Betty A. McDowell, 83, of Washington, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 9, 2022, in Hawthorne Woods, with her family at her side.

She was born December 13, 1938, in Washington, the daughter of Aaron and Madeline “Minnie” Rodgers Conner.

Mrs. McDowell had worked at various jobs over the years including working in the cafeteria at Chartiers-Houston High School for many years, and as an aide at Country Meadows in Bridgeville for several years.

Betty and her husband, Jerry, were snowbirds, and spent over 20 years wintering in Bradenton, Fla..

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Houston.

On November 21, 1959, she married Gerald C. “Jerry” McDowell who died February 26, 2018.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Rupprecht (Charles) of Houston and Michele Senay (Stanley) of Washington; three grandchildren, Jessica Fletcher (Mike), Kaitlyn Rupprecht (fiance Michael Lavin) and William C. Senay; a great-granddaughter, Audrey Fletcher; three sisters, Doris Dawn Drozdo and Martha Young, both of Oil City, and Rita Darlyn McDaid (Bruce) of Butler; a brother, Albert L. Conner (Rita) of Eighty Four; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sisters, Roxie Lee Nicholls and Eva Dale Barnhart.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner / Supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342.

The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Center Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232
