Rose Marie Vanata, 102, of Dilliner, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 9, 2022, in the Stonerise Nursing Home in Morgantown, W.Va. Born in Hebzibah, W.Va., November 20, 1919, she was a daughter of the late William and Carmella Matucci Patrick.

A faithful member of the Morgantown Church of Christ, she had previously worked as a cashier at the Hills Department Store in Star City, W.Va.

Surviving are three children, Blanche Vincent-Rowan and husband Gene of Fairmont, W.Va., Jo Carroll Onoffrey of Bethany Beach, Del., and William F. “Bud” Vanata and wife Barbara of Dilliner; 15 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Herald Yochum.

The last of her immediate family, she was predeceased by three brothers, Joe, James and Frank “Vestie” Patrick; and a sister, Elizabeth. Also deceased is her husband, Benjamin Franklin Vanata, in 1997; a daughter, Rose Mary Yochum; and two sons-in-law, Ted Vincent and Mike Onoffrey.

Rose had a long and wonderful life. She was dearly loved by her family, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, where visitation continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. hour of service Thursday, April 14, with Minister Jonathan Stevens officiating. Interment follows in Mount Nebo Cemetery, Bunner’s Ridge, W.Va.
