John Wesley Michalka
John Wesley Michalka, 65, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, July 31, 2022, in St. Clair Hospital with his devoted wife by his side.
He was born October 10, 1956, in Canonsburg, a son of the late John Jr. and Rebecca Campbell Michalka.
John lived in Canonsburg since 1981 and attended St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church. He was a union carpenter with Local 432 and had been employed with Jendoco.
John was a drummer who played with polka bands in his younger years. He was an avid golfer and was a former member of the Washington Country Club.
On September 1, 1979, he married Jamie Puchany, who survives after 42 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Jay Anthony Michalka and his wife Jennifer of Brentwood; three beloved grandchildren, Josephine Marie, John Paul and Jacob Anthony Michalka; his sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Egan of Cranberry Township, Roberta (Bailey) Cadman of Jefferson Tex.; and his brother, Rodney (Kate) Michalka of Belton Mo.; his brother-in-law, James (Maura) Puchany of Cecil; and several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 until 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFS owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where Catholic blessing services will be held at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
