Anthony J. Balsama Jr.
Anthony J. Balsama Jr., 63, of Canonsburg, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 1, 2022, in UPMC Pittsburgh, following a brief illness. He was born April 14, 1959, in Canonsburg, a son of Anthony J. “Blackie” Balsama of Houston and the late Thelma Bell Balsama.
Tony lived his life in Canonsburg, where he was a graduate of Canon-McMillan Senior High School Class of 1977 and a member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church.
He had been employed as an ironworker and was a member of the United Ironworkers of America Local # 3.
Tony was a talented artist, an avid golfer and a bocce ball and arm-wrestling champion. He was the former owner of Screening Mad screen-printing shop in Canonsburg and was an enthusiastic collector of antiques.
Tony was member of the White Eagles Society, Polish National Union (PNU) and the French Club, all of Canonsburg. Anyone who knew Tony knew how passionate he was about his family and his friends, especially his “White Eagles Crew”.
Left behind to cherish his memory, in addition to his father, are his beloved children, Kaitlyn Marie Balsama of Phoenix, Ariz., and Blake Anthony Balsama of Canonsburg; his siblings, Sherry (Larry) Lemasters of Dallas, Texas, Frank A. (Tina) Balsama of Clearwater, Fla., and Amanda L. (Rodney) Brookman of Houston; his former wife, Marianne Balsama of Canonsburg; nieces and nephews, Lucas, Scott and Londyn Lemasters, Ashley Yevins, Bradley Balsama, Ava and Jake Brookman; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 until 8 p.m. Thursday, August 4, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where Catholic Blessing services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 5, with interment in Oak Spring Cemetery. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at the White Eagles Society, 303 Adams Avenue, Canonsburg.
