Dorothy Helen Tennant Cheek
Dorothy “Dot” Helen Tennant Cheek, 93, of Wind Ridge, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the Donnell House in Washington.
Born August 21, 1928, in Wadestown, W.Va., a daughter to the late Herbert Lee and Doan Tennant.
Dot married her late husband, Herman Thomas Cheek, on August 10, 1947. They were married for 59 years before his passing on January 6, 2007.
Dot was a resident of the Wind Ridge area since 1947, and a member of the Crabapple Community Church.
She enjoyed gardening, working on the farm, traveling, reading books, especially the Bible, berry picking, puzzles, squirrel hunting and loved cats.
Dot is survived by her daughters, Martha Thornton, of Pittsburgh and Nora Rhome, of Carmichaels; grandchildren, Matthew (Bobbie) Cheek, Mary (Alicia) Cheek, Forest Rhome, Scott Rhome, Eric Rhome, Laurie (Shane) Rhome, Toni Thornton, Becky Thornton, Herbert Thornton, Herman Thornton; great-grandchildren, Jessica Hamill, Travis Cain, Baillie Mundell, Harper Riley, Khaleesi Pattison, “Little John” Thornton; six great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Brenda Cheek, of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dot is preceded in death by son, Herbert Lee Roy “Butch” Cheek, who died in 1990; daughter, Scarlett Loretta Cheek, who died in infancy; and siblings, Clyde Tennant, Burle Tennant, Bob Tennant, Mike Tennant, Cecil Tennant, Fred Tennant, Ruby Tennant, Ruth Tuttle and Margaret (Earl) Hull.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022, in the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359. 724-499-5181.
A second viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m., in the funeral home, with Pastor Don Amon officiating. Burial will take place at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township.
