Robert Eugene Mego
Robert Eugene Mego, 90, of Houston, formerly of Crucible, died Sunday August 14, 2022, in the Respi-Center, Waynesburg.
Mr. Mego was born September 21, 1931, in Jefferson, a son of the late Paul and Anna Diaz Mego.
He was a graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for many years as a produce manager for ACME and Kroger in Waynesburg. His last job was as a security guard at Baily Mine.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Robin Ann Samek of Crucible; four stepchildren, Michael and John LaCava, both of Waynesburg, Dr. Theresa LaCava (Wayne Hamel) of Hopwood, and Joan LaCava of Boston, Mass.; three grandchildren, Erika Maskil (Jack) of Rices Landing, Jill Samek (Travis Penich) of Crucible, Jeff Samek (Jen) of Bridgeport, W.Va.; five great-grandchildren, Chase and Grace Maskil, Noah Samek, Kileigh Smith, and Brianna Wise; two brothers, Kenneth Mego (Connie), James Mego (Lorrine); two sisters, Lorraine Gore (Sonny) and Eileen Begovich (Rick); two great-great grandchildren, Amora and Amiyah Wise; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his two wives, Marjorie Baker Mego and Norma Jean LaCava Mego; a son, who died at birth; a sister, Carole Babyak; two brothers, Earl T. and Paul Mego; and son-in-law, Thomas Samek.
Robert was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 and American Legion Post 0175. He was also a member of the Food Service Workers Union.
Family and friends will be welcomed from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, and from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Thursday, August 18, in the Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home, 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, PA 15320, Paul M. Lesako, owner / supervisor (724-966-5100).
Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Waynesburg, with Full Military Rites by the Greene County Honor Guard.
