Sharon K. Austin
Sharon K. Austin, 63, of Washington, crossed the river Jordan, joining the Saints Triumphant, who from their labors rest, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in Premiere Washington Health Center.
She was born March 23, 1959, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Marylyn Schaffer Byers of Houston and the late Robert Byers.
Sharon was Valedictorian of the Canon-McMillan High School class of 1977, graduated Suma Cum Laude from Washington and Jefferson College, attended Tel Aviv University in Israel, working toward her Masters Degree, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa for academics.
Mrs. Austin had last worked as a waitress for Atria’s in McMurray, where she always enjoyed her interaction with customers.
She was a member of the Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, where she had been a Trustee and Senior High Sunday School teacher.
Sharon was an avid gardener, cook and cat lover.
On October 21, 1995, she married Reverend Donald C. Austin who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother, is a daughter, Stephanie Campbell and her husband Kevin of Castle Shannon; two sisters, Cynthia Stonick (Edward) of Smithton and Beth Byers Komar (Paul) of Lexington, Mass.; a brother, Robert Byers of Bridgeville; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner / Supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2022, with Reverend Peggy Shannon officiating.
