Our loving mother, Mary Louise Khouri, 98, of Avella, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022, in Providence Point Healthcare Center.
She was born October 24, 1923, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Dr. Joseph McMeans and Alice Fee McMeans.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Peabody High School, in East Liberty. She went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and earned a masters degree from Kutztown University, formerly Kutztown State Teachers College.
She was a teacher at Claysville Elementary School, in the McGuffey School District, until her retirement in 1980.
Left to cherish and share her memory is her daughter, Mary Alice Heuler of Washington; her son, John D. (Robin) Khouri of Port Charlotte, Fla.; her five grandchildren: Christopher and Anthony Khouri, Jonathan (Jessica), Kristen (Justin Petty) and Evan (Caitlin) Heuler; a great-granddaughter, Wednesday Heuler; and four nieces: Marilyn, Barbie, Connie and Linda.
She will also be profoundly missed by her dear friend of 76 years, Betty Digby.
Our mother is reunited with our father, Dr. John W. Khouri, whom she married on September 1, 1943, in Maryland, and shared 62 years of marriage before his passing on August 2, 2005.
Her sister, Jane Harris, passed away in 1983. Also deceased is her son-in-law, Richard B. Heuler, who passed away in 2013.
All local services will be private and entrusted to Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors, Inc., Charles R. Piatt, owner / supervisor, Andrew C. Piatt, director.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Port Charlotte, Fla.
