Regina Marie Barnett Callery Hixon
Regina Marie Barnett Callery Hixon peacefully passed Monday, August 15, 2022, surrounded by her family, at VITAS Healthcare in Naples, Fla. She was born September 8, 1927, to Charles and Barbara Kuchinic Barnett in Hackett, the oldest of five children.
She was predeceased by her parents; and brothers, Charles, William and Albert Barnett.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Schultz Little.
Regina had two loving husbands, whom she adored. She was married to John Anthony Callery, Sr. June 23, 1951, until his death October 14, 1992, and to Charles Ken Hixon November 26, 1995, until his death September 30, 2011.
Regina graduated from Peters Township High School and Robert Morris Business School. She worked as a secretary for U.S. Steel and later for Bailey Banks and Biddle jewelry store as a record-making salesperson, window designer and event planning manager. Her skill in floral design won her many honors in competitions and her talents for decorating and entertaining were enjoyed by many who knew and loved her.
Regina resided most of her life in Finleyville and was committed to caring for her extended family. The church and community were blessed with her leadership in charitable endeavors with St. Francis of Assisi Church, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the Finleyville Flower Club, Girl Scouts and other community organizations for many years.
In 2021, Regina moved to Naples to be near her children.
In addition to her sister, she is survived by her loving family, including children, John (Kathy) Callery, Dr. Robert (Cathie) Callery and Barbara (Stephen) Archer; stepchildren, James (Elaine) Hixon and Janet Hixon; and grandchildren, John (Sarah Rabil) Callery, Jennifer (Matthew) Werner, Ryan Archer, Kristin Archer, Sean Hixon and Megan Hixon.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at Queen of Heaven Cemetery at a later date.
