Robert P. Newcomer Jr.
Robert “Bob” P. Newcomer Jr., 93, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
Dear father of Sharon Curry, Robert (Maria Rivera) Newcomer III, Tracey (Joe) Malick and Lisa Newcomer (James Keach).
Cherished grandfather of Tessa Garland, Vincent (Roxanne) Curry, Robert Newcomer IV (Kim Jaramillo), Sara Newcomer (Richard Oliver), and Rachel Malick.
Great-grandfather of Michael Newcomer, Rowan Garland, Anthony Oliver, and Annabella Oliver.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty; and his brother, Richard.
Born in Pittsburgh, Bob graduated from Brentwood High School in 1947, and the University of Pittsburgh in 1951.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Sergeant at Camp Gordon where he was editor of the Post Newspaper. While serving at Camp Gordon he met his wife, Betty, in Augusta, Ga. They married in 1953, and started their lives together in Bob’s hometown of Brentwood. They moved to Upper St. Clair in 1969, and then spent their retirement years in Mt. Lebanon.
Bob’s career spanned 50 years across advertising, public relations, marketing and sales, in both the corporate and small business worlds. During retirement Bob enjoyed spending time with family, cruising, watching the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Panthers, and reading (especially U.S. military history).
Interment at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be held at 12:30 p.m. on August 30, 2022.
