Walter Benard Jr.

Walter “Buzzy” Benard Jr., 73, of McDonald, passed on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

He was born April 10, 1949, in Pittsburgh, a son of Walter A. and Elva Jacqueline Cook Benard.

Walter was a graduate of Fort Cherry High School, class of 1967. Shortly after graduation he was hired by Shenango Inc., in Neville Island, as a pipefitter.

On March 23, 1968, he married Marge Jane Lapin, who survives.

“Buzzy” enjoyed fishing, camping, and wrestling. He was a former head wrestling coach for Fort Cherry High School. Walter was a huge Pitt fan, attending many Pitt football games. He enjoyed attending Estate sales, looking for that bargain, and building toys, such as a merry go round for his grandchildren to play on, who he truly cherished.

Surviving is his daughter, Bridget (Michael) Hensel of Pittsburgh; a sister, Linda (Bob) Harpster of Enola; two brothers, Terry and Danny Benard of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; three grandchildren, Alexis (Alexander) Honeygosky, Matthew and Charlotte Hensel.

Deceased is an infant brother, Stephen Benard; and his in-laws, Walter and Charlotte Tornabene Lapin.
