Adelyn Schussler
Adelyn Schussler of North Strabane Township passed away on November 28, 2022 in her home.
Adelyn was born August 12, 1926 in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Mary and August Rocco. She grew up in Canonsburg and after marriage was a resident of Houston.
She is survived by son, Kurt Schussler, who has been her caretaker; and niece and goddaughter Sheryl Cunningham from N.C.. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her loving husband, Ted Schussler; son, Eric Schussler; and sister, Margaret Dervey.
Graduating from Canonsburg High School, Class of 1946, Adelyn attended Business School in Pittsburgh. After business school, she worked for Kaufmann’s Department Store Employment Office, which led to the position of Executive Secretary with Union Carbide. Her last employer was in Canonsburg for PPG Industries as Office Manager.
Adelyn was a survivor of the Polio epidemic during the early thirties. She never let this rule her life even after multiple surgeries and was always willing to be a helping hand with a great sense of humor.
Adelyn was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Houston, a former member of the choir and served as a Deacon. She was also active for many years with the Canonsburg Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. During these activities, many friends were formed. Adelyn enjoyed entertaining at her home, knitting, cross stitch, and reading.
