Floyd E. Phillips
Floyd E. “Johnny” Phillips, 76, of Avella, died on December 13, 2022, in Premier Washington Healthcare.
He was born on December 1, 1946, in Jackson Township, a son of the late Dennis Floyd and Hazel Imogene Taylor Phillips.
Floyd was a 1965 graduate of Union High School.
Mr. Phillips had worked as a welder.
A member of Masonic Lodge #164 in Washington, he was also a member of the VFW Post 927, American Legion Post 639 in Claysville, and the Washington Elks Club.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War.
Floyd enjoyed hunting, and loved spending time at his camp in Pymatuning.
On October 21, 1988, he married Phyllis Ester Banchi, who died on December 27, 2021.
Surviving are three sons, Scott (Alice) Rice, Don (Lisa) Rice and Jason (Lisa) Rice; a brother, Michael E. (Kimberly) Phillips; grandchildren, Joseph (Cortney) Daugherty, Melanie (Casey) Daugherty, Matt Emph, Mike Emph, Megan (Jeff) Larson and Jarred Rice; great- grandchildren, Jaxson, Denver, Austyn, Carter and Lincoln; nephews, Jacob and Jesse Phillips; niece, Jenny (Keith) Hickman; great-nephew, Lukas Hickman; and special friend, Jerry (Pam) Patterson.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m., the time of service on Monday, December 19, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, with Evangelist Michael Phillips officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Claysville American Legion as well as a Masonic Service just prior to the funeral service.
Burial in North Buffalo Cemetery will be private, and held at the convenience of the family.
