Nelson P. Watson Jr.
Nelson P. Watson Jr., 93, of McMurray, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in his home.
He was born March 3, 1929, in Hastings, W.Va., the son of the late Nelson P. and Flossie Horner Watson.
Mr. Watson served in the United States Air Force for four years before being honorably discharged.
He was employed by TRW as a service manager for many years up until the time of his retirement. Mr. Watson was a Mason and in his earlier years was a member of the Lions Club.
He enjoyed walking on the Montour Trail in Peters Township with his dog, Zeke and boating at Tygart Lake, where he had a second home. Mr. Watson also enjoyed pitching horse shoes when he was young. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and he will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
On May 28, 1955, he married Mary Elizabeth Mason, who died March 19, 2010.
Surviving are three sons, Nelson P. Watson III. of Claysville, Charles T. Watson of Rochester, and Donald E. Watson of Toledo, Ohio; two daughters, Linda M. Watson of Canonsburg, and Janice L. (Frank) Willhoft of Washington; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Adam, Angela, Neil, Lauren, Amber and Eric; and 12 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Watson was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Watson and by a sister, Opal Wirth.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner / Supervisor, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, with the Reverend Wray Fanton officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post #191 Honor Guard and the United States Air Force.
