Richard F. Ward
Richard F. Ward, 78, of Washington, died Thursday, December 22, 2022 in the Washington Hospital.
He was born November 23, 1944 in Washington, a son of the late Paul Wendell Ward, Sr. and Henrietta Mae Bertrand Ward.
Rich was a 1962 graduate of Union High School, Burgettstown, and a 1970 graduate of California University.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War.
He was a supervisor with the Department of Public Welfare for 34 years, retiring in June, 2004.
He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sports events.
He was a member of the B.P.O.E. #776, Washington, and a life member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 of the American Legion, Washington.
On September 23, 1967 in Burgettstown he married Janice Dudeck, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Scott C. (Bethany) Ward of Washington; a daughter, Kelly L. (Scott) Hamilton of Marshall Twp.; two brothers, Paul W. (Linda) Ward, Jr. of Chambersburg and Robert S. (Paula) Ward of Upper St. Clair; two sisters, Bonnie (Larry) Midler of Avella, and Susan Ward of Oakdale; a step-sister, Nancy Shamitko of Washington; four grandchildren, Noah and Micah Hamilton and Ella and Sawyer Ward as well as several nieces and nephews and two brothers-in-law, Roy Lounder of Burgettstown and Theodore (Kim) Dudeck of Cornelius, N.C.
Deceased is a step-sister, Linda Lounder.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
