Sharon L. Higgins
Sharon L. Wilson Higgins, 74, of Avon Park, Fla., formerly of Waynesburg, died at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022, in the SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health in Smithfield, N.C.
She was born Sunday, January 11, 1948 in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Allison “Harky” Wilson and Evelyn Taylor Hull.
Mrs. Higgins was a member of the Fairall United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of the Women of the Moose #888 in Waynesburg. She had held several positions over the years as well as being Past Senior Regent. She enjoyed spending time at Big Bear Lake with family and friends and was an avid camper. One of her greatest joys was watching her sons and grandchildren playing softball and baseball. She had worked at the former Shop and Save in Waynesburg, and was also a bus driver for Fox Transportation in Waynesburg.
She is survived by her husband, James F. Higgins, Jr.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kelly J. Higgins of East Moline, Ill., three sons, Jeffrey (Tammy) Higgins, of Wendell, N.C, Doug Higgins, of Waynesburg, and Michael (Crystal) Higgins, of Mt. Morris; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased is her stepfather, John Vern Hull; and a brother, Fred “Pete” Wilson.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director, 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, PA 15370 where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 29, with Pastor Lanfer Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Fairall Cemetery, Whiteley Township, Waynesburg, Pa. The Women of the Moose #888 will hold a visitation at the funeral home at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 28.
