Wilma Pauline Hammon Mayhle

Wilma Pauline Hammon Mayhle, 94, of York, S.C., formerly of Clarksville, died Monday, January 31, 2022, at White Oak Manor, York, S.C..

She was born August 5, 1927, in Fayette County, a daughter of the late Sherman and Goldie Dye Hammon.

Pauline worked as a nurse’s aide taking care of babies and the elderly.

She attended Trinity United Methodist Church in York, S.C..

On November 28, 1947, she married Dwight H. “Ike” Mayhle, who died July 10, 2004.

Surviving is a daughter, Shirley (Jim) Dougherty of York, S.C.; seven grandchildren, John Busch, Bryan Mayhle, Kelly Lettera, Janelle Dougherty, Jimmy Dougherty, Cathy Dougherty, and Beth Whiting; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Wayne Hammon and Paul Hammon.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by her son, William Dwight Mayhle; and a grandson, Billy Mayhle.

In following guidelines of wearing masks friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of funeral services, on Saturday February 5, 2022, in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, with the Rev. Dr. William Parker officiating.

Private interment in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be mailed to Shirley Dougherty, 392 Lauren Dr., York, SC 29745, for Pauline’s caregivers.
