Elsie M. Dean
Elsie M. Dean, 88, of Washington, died Thursday, February 3, 2022, in her home, surrounded by family.
She was born December 30, 1933, in Washington, a daughter of the late James Rocco and Lillian Bedillion (Bill) Drylie.
A graduate of Washington High School, Elsie was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Dean had worked as an operator and engineering clerk for Bell South.
Elsie was an avid reader, but her greatest joy was her family, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On August 17, 1953, she married the love of her life, George L. Dean, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, George Keith Dean of Washington, Kathi (Ken) Jennings of Washington, and Kirk A. (the late Robin “Renee”) Dean of Washington; eight grandchildren, Kristin (Jason) Mellinger, Rachael (Lina) Dean, Alisha (Charlie) McGowan, Brittany (Jake) Varner, Aaron (Laura) Jennings, Patrick (Shianne) Jennings, Jeremy (Chrissy) Dean, and Kinsey Dean; four stepgrandchildren, Keegan McGowan, Brogan McGowan, Zephan McGowan and Brannigan McGowan; and 17 great-grandchildren, Eziekel, Fiona, Jonathan, Stella, Cannon, Parker, Carter, Kylynn, Brynlee, Blakeley, Jaxton, Brael, Shelby, Daphne, Shade, Blu and Kola.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the team members at Gateway Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Elsie, and her family, during this difficult time.
Friends and family will be received from noon until 1 p.m., the time of service, Friday, February 11, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Sue Petritis officiating.
