Karen Elizabeth Price
Karen Elizabeth Price, 73, of Avella, died Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in her home.
She was born February 16, 1948, in Oakland, California, a daughter of the late Lenny and Bea Hess.
Karen graduated from California State College in Hayward, California, with a degree in early childhood education.
A self-employed art teacher, she owned and operated the local Monart School of Art.
Karen was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish and its St. Michael worship site in Avella and the Marine Corps League 1138 Auxiliary.
Faith and family were very important to her. She loved art and gardening, and volunteered anywhere she was needed.
On December 30, 1971, she married James Mitchell Price, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Jamie Price (Heather) of Washington; a daughter, Jennifer Lacey (Pat) of Havertown; a brother, Gary Hess (Sarah) of Freeland, Washington; a sister, Valerie Andersen (Christopher) of Washington Depot, Connecticut; six grandchildren, Dartanyian, Kalani and Sebastian Price, and Sean, Mackenzie, and Jack Lacey; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 14th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a Blessing Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 15th, with Father Zachary Galiyas officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ALSAC / St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
