Jean Elizabeth McCue Rush Whitaker

Jean Elizabeth McCue Rush Whitaker, 100, of Washington, died Friday, February 11, 2022, in Premier Washington Health Center.

She was born October 4, 1921, in Grafton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Roy and Goldie Lambert McCue.

Mrs. Whitaker graduated from Grafton High School, and was a member of Glen Street Free Methodist Church.

Jean had worked for 23 years for Thompson Hardware, and also at Hazel Atlas and G.C. Murphy on Main Street.

An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Jean loved putt-putt golf, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy on television. She was also an avid bowler, having belonged to the Alpine Ladies League.

Jean had been married to Packey Rush and Harry Whitaker, who both predeceased her.

Surviving are a son, David (Charmaine) Rush of Leland, N.C.; a daughter, Sandra Rush of Washington; five grandchildren, Gina, Jeremy, David, Amy and Jennifer; three great-grandchildren, Keaton, Jaden and Olivia; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deceased are three brothers, Richard, Vaughn and Billy McCue.

There will be no visitation or services.

Arrangements are entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
