Patricia Williamson Smith

Patricia Williamson Smith passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., surrounded by her family.

She was born on April, 24, 1927, in Charleston, W.Va., a daughter of Everett N. and L. Mae Williamson.

Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Huntington High School, attended Marshall University, and was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Fairmont University.

She worked briefly at Appalachia Power Company in Huntington, W.Va., and later at the law firm of Thompson and Baily in Waynesburg.

While living in Waynesburg, she was a volunteer and board member of Greene County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, honorary lifetime member of the Cornerstone Genealogical Society, Twentieth Century Club, Woman’s Club, Library Club, and Meals on Wheels volunteer.

A long time member of the First Baptist Church, she sang in the Chancel choir, was a deacon, and served on several Boards.

Her hobbies were reading, bridge and music.

She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, G. Wayne Smith, on September 9, 2010. In 2015 she moved to Longmeadow, Mass..

Surviving are her children: Leslie Smith Frank, and husband Dr. James L. Frank, of Northampton, Mass.; Donald H. Smith, and wife Susan Kostkas, of Sewickley; Margaret Smith Brackett, and husband Dr. Jeffrey M. Brackett, of Muncie, Ind.; two stepchildren, Gerald Smith, and wife Linda Smith, and Lawrence Smith, both of Fairmont, W.Va.; grandchildren, John Demase, and wife Kindra, Margaux Frank, Alessandra Frank, James N. Frank, Emily Smith, Elena Smith, Sophia Smith, Claire Brackett; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Jack K. Williamson and Donald N. Williamson; and a granddaughter, Laura Marlowe.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date at Broad Run Baptist Church, with internment beside her husband at Broad Run Cemetery, in Jane Lew, W.Va.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Waynesburg University, First Baptist Church of Waynesburg, or the Cornerstone Genealogical Society.
