Carolyn Louise Wright
Carolyn Louise Wright, 83, of Claysville, formerly of Washington, died Friday, February 18, 2022, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 16, 1938, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Ross V. and Genevieve Watkins Burkett.
Mrs. Wright was a 1956 graduate of Bedford High School, and went on to work in the financial industry, retiring from both PNC and WesBanco.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Washington, where she served as treasurer of the women’s group.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and watching her beloved Hallmark Channel.
On September 2, 1962, she married Thomas F. Wright. Mr. Wright died October 16, 2018.
Surviving are two daughters, Vickie (Carl, Sr.) Group of Washington, and Teresa “Terrie” (Rick) Newton of Claysville; eight grandchildren, Cara and Caitlyn Group and Carl (Nicki) Group, Jr.; Joshua (Apphia) Newton, Abigail (Tyler) Yocca, Anna, Jesse and Josiah Newton; nine great-grandchildren, Teegan, Jaiden Newton, Daphne, Audrey, Rosealyn and Penelope Newton, Phoebe, Ephraim and Apollos Yocca; additional children, Jeff (Kathy) Wright and Thomas (Tricia) Wright, both of Bedford and Andrew (Carol) Wright of Lancaster; additional grandchildren, Anita Wright, Jeffrey (Julie) Wright, Laurie (Matthew) Hughes, Phillip (Tara) Wright, Adam Wright, and Sara (Kyle) Briggs; additional great-grandchildren, Marie-Annelise Wright, Regan Hughes, Alexander, Genevive and Kadin Wright and Erin Briggs; a brother-in-law, Bernard Sellers; a nephew, Jim (Beth) Sellers, and a niece, Vickie Sellers.
The family expresses special thanks to Carolyn’s caregivers, Teresa, Terri, Sandy, Louann, Heather, Debbie, Marena, and Dottie. The family would also send a special thank you to the Concordia Hospice Team.
Deceased are a brother, Joseph H. Burkett; a sister, Donna Lee Sellers, and a nephew, Joe Sellers.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, in the Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in the First Lutheran Church, 92 West Walnut Street, Washington, 15301, with Reverend Robert Grewe officiating.
Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
