Thomas Shady, 97, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2022.

Tom was born in Canonsburg, a son of the late Shady and Katherine Ashey Joseph.

He was a US Navy veteran of WWII, serving in both the European and Pacific theaters.

Tom worked faithfully at McGraw Edison in Canonsburg for 38 years prior to his retirement. Outside the workplace, he was an avid photographer, often documenting special events for family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Carolyn Lux. Tom and Carolyn were inseparable, sharing a life centered around family. Tom will be best remembered as a Good Samaritan, and together with Carolyn, as humble doers of good deeds. These acts of generosity, usually conducted behind the scenes without fanfare, often helped lift the fortunes of friends and family.

Tom was the loving father of Debra Harris (Phil), Marcia Mahan (Daniel), Karen McDonough (Coleman), and Nancy Donahoo (Albert); grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 16. He was the brother of six late siblings: Joseph Shady, Phillip Shady, Michael Joseph, Josephine Martin, Elizabeth Romankewicz, and Richard Shady. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation.
