Ronald L. Gambirasi
Ronald L. Gambirasi, 77, of Finleyville, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 20, 1944, in New Eagle, a son of the late Lewis and Margaret Foster Gambirasi.
Ron worked for 45 years as a civil engineer and retired as a senior designer of structures in 2010 from SAI Consulting Engineers. One of the local bridges he worked on was the Joe Montana Bridge in the Mon Valley.
He loved sports, playing baseball in high school and had a tryout with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards and casino trips for slots and blackjack. He coached his daughter’s softball teams for several years and never missed his granddaughter’s soccer games. Ron was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and Steelers season ticket holder for many years. He attended Super Bowl X in 1976 in Miami, where the Steelers defeated the Cowboys. Ron loved traveling, especially to Vegas. He also took his family on a three-week vacation to California and back, and on a once in a lifetime trip to Hawaii.
Ron will be remembered as a family man, putting his family first. His granddaughter was his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Surviving are two daughters, Sue (Patrick) Riley of Bethel Park and Amy (Gary) Vollmer of Finleyville; brother, Gerald (Edie) Gambirasi of The Colony, Texas; and granddaughter, Brooke Vollmer.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is his wife of 33 years, his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Twyla Craig Gambirasi.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 27, in Kegel Funeral Home, Inc., David P. Kegel, supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 28. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
