Raymond John Koenig
Raymond John Koenig, 43, of New Orleans, La., formerly of Avella, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, in his home, after a lengthy illness.
He was born February 16, 1978, in Pittsburgh, a son of Gary F. and Linda J. Hilliard Koenig.
Ray was a 1996 graduate of Avella High School and was a former member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Avella.
After graduation he moved to Louisiana and attended Tulane University for architecture.
Ray loved the city of New Orleans. He worked as a photographer for Nola.com, a subsidiary of The Times-Picayune in New Orleans for 12 years.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and father, are a sister, Lynda Lee (Leon) Gerstner of Pittsburgh; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Deceased are his maternal grandparents, John O. and Mary G. Davis Hilliard; and his paternal grandparents, Raymond F. and Lillian L. Carder Koenig.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
